Getting Oriented

Ascent is a small, very opinionated language built to help beginners grasp the basics of programming quickly. It stands on one rule above all others: nothing happens silently.

If you’re coming from Python, JavaScript, or C, much of it will feel familiar. But every concept has been shaped precisely. There are no quiet coercions, no silent overflow, and no truthiness rescuing a shaky condition. If something happens, you can see it in the code.
